Splitting a check

Using Air 3.94, in the Split Check screen of F&B, you have the ability to move items from one guest’s check to another guest’s check. You can add and view four checks on one screen but can work with more than four checks by swiping right to see more checks. To see a video of splitting a check in 3.92, click here.

  • You can split the check from the Sales screen

  • You can split the check from F&B

To split a check from the Sales screen

  1. From the Sales screen, with the tab displaying to the right of the screen, select the Advanced tab at the top of the screen. A pop-up menu displays.
  1. Select Split Check. A screen displays with the Split#1 check displayed to the far left. Note: If the menu does not have Split Check listed, you may have to select Get Tab first in the lower right part of the screen.

Note: If you have tabs started but not saved, you are prompted to name them at this time; select Save Tab for each one.

  1. Select Add Check at the bottom-left of the screen. Repeat this to add as many checks as you want to use to split the check.

Note: Only four checks will be visible on the screen but you can swipe left to see the ones off-screen.

Note: Selecting Remove Check removes the selected check as long as there are no items on it.

  1. You can split the check in two ways: by the items on the check or equally split the amount of money on the check. Do one of the following based on your needs:

Note: If you have not added the new check yet, you can now by tapping the Add Check button in the lower-left corner of the screen.

  • To move an item to a different check, select that item then select the check. More DetailsClosedTo move item(s) to another check, select the item(s). The check to the right displays the words: Touch anywhere to add item to check.
    Note: Only one item can be moved at a time - this would include something like a hamburger with modifiers on it; one hamburger would have to be moved at a time. If you have more of the same item, like the same type of beer, the Number of Split Items number pad displays and you can select how many of that item to move. Select the number of items then Done.
    EXAMPLE: Four hot dogs to four different checks: Tap hot dog, tap the correct check; tap the number one, then repeat this three more times. Each hot dog would now be on a separate check.
  • To split the cash amount equally for the items on a check, select an item or items from the first check, then select Split Items Equally at the bottom of the screen. A pop-up Select Check box displays with the split listed. Select Done. The item(s) selected split between the checks, and the total divided between the number of checks which is shown at the bottom of each check.

 

Note: To combine all checks, select the Combine All option below. This may be used to start the splitting over again in case you make a mistake.

  1. Select Continue when you are done. All tabs save and the Sales screen displays.
  2. Select Get Tab to begin to finalize each payment. To learn how, see Finalize payments.
  1. When you are done finalizing one split check, the Split Check screen displays again so that you can finalize the next check; select Continue again and repeat the process until all checks a finalized.

Why is there a printer icon in the split check screen for each check, when you can select Print Receipts or Email Receipt after the transaction is done?

To split the check from F&B

  1. From the F&B screen, select the table. You are prompted for the number of customers at that table.
  2. Enter the number into the number pad pop-up. The tab displays with the Seat numbers beginning with Seat 0.

    3. Select the Seat #, then add items for that seat; repeat for each Seat.

    When finished select Save Tab. The F & B table screen displays, and that table is red.

Select that table to split the check. The items of the tab display to the right of the screen.

Select the Advanced button from the top-left of the screen, then Split Check. The Split Check screen displays with the Table # and the Seat #'s on each check.

If you need to add a check,select the Add Check at the bottom-left of the screen.

Note: If you have not added a seat number to this table yet, you are prompted to do so now.
Enter the seat number, and select Done. The new check displays with the table and seat number at the top of it.
Repeat this to add as many checks as you want to use to split the check.

 

Note: Only four checks will be visible on the screen but you can swipe left to see the ones off-screen.

Note: Selecting Remove Check removes the selected check as long as there are no items on it.

  1. Follow steps 4 - 6 to split the checks.
  2. Select Continue. The Table View displays again.
  3. Follow steps 3 - ? above to move items to the other checks at the split screen.

  4. To finalize the checks, select the [hamburger menu] and Sales.

  5. Select Get Tab.  The checks display in this list with the word Table#:{table number} and Split# in it.

  6. Select the check to finalize. The items display on the right side of the screen.

  7. Finalize the check. The Split Check screen displays.

  8. Select Continue.

  9. Repeat steps 5 - 9 until all checks are finalized.

Note: It is best practice to finalized each check at this time.
